Description

The edifice of the former Boys’ Junior High School no 5 in Warsaw at 55 Koszykowa Street built in the years 1903-1913 according to Antoni Jabłoński-Jasieńczyk's design. The building constructed with the use of innovative at the time building techniques is qualified as early modernist with Art Nouveau decor. Its topping cornice, wavy gable of the building, and the arcade with an archivolt refer to Russian architecture from the early 20th century. The Art Nouveau line smoothness is present in the interior of the building in the cast iron balustrade. External ornaments relate to geometric nature of the Viennese Secession. The Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology has been located here since 1916.
