Description

Building of the Old Theatre in Cracow in Szczepański Square was built in the period 1841-1844 on the basis of the design by Tomasz Majewski and Karol Kremer in the shape referring to the early Renaissance Florence architecture. It was completely rebuilt in the years 1903-1906 according to the design by Tadeusz Stryjeński  and Franciszek Mączyński. The facade gained then Art Nouveau decoration, i.e. wide floral frieze by Józef Gardecki.Only elements of the Art Nouveau decor of the interior by artists from the group of the Polish Applied Art have survived till the present time.
