Custodes - Cultural Areas and Tourism: Development of European Strategies was a project co-financed by the Central Europe Program (CEP). Its aim was to increase the socio-economic value of cultural sites in the areas of the project partner countries (Italy, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovenia), thus increasing their potential as destinations for tourists.
The CUSTODES project, coordinated by the Rimini region (Italy), focused on developing a tourism product for less known cultural areas, located in small towns, usually overlooked by major tourist routes. The aim of the project was to create and introduce new models and ideas that will increase the accessibility and attractiveness of places of high historical importance. Among them were, among others: archaeological excavations, castles, fortresses.
