Edward J. Valauskas is Chief Editor of First Monday, a monthly, Internet-only, free, peer-review
journal dedicated to the Internet. He is the founder and principal of Internet
Mechanics, a technology consulting group advising schools, libraries, government
agencies, and corporations on telecommunications, computing, and the Internet.
He is co-author of the book Internet Troubleshooter: Help for the Logged-On
and Lost (Chicago: ALA Editions, 1994). Internet Troubleshooter
was called a "godsend" in the September, 1995 issue of Wired.
He is also the co-editor of the books The Internet Initiative (Chicago:
ALA Editions, 1995) and The Internet for Teachers and School Media Specialists
(New York: Neal-Schuman, 1996).
Edward is a member of the Board of Directors of the Library
and Information Technology Association (LITA) and the Professional Board of the International
Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). Mr. Valauskas is also an occasional lecturer
at the School of Library and Information Management (SLIM) of Emporia State University as well as at the
Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at the University of Illinois.
